Specialist playground company Ray Parry Playgrounds Ltd Transform play provision at prestigious Shrewsbury Public School

Mr. Harvey Stokes, the Building Surveyor of the Girls’ Day School Trust contacted us with regard to a site visit at the prestigious Shrewsbury High Prep School. It had been announced that the Pre Prep based at Kennedy Road was to move to the Kingsland Grange site and a new playground was required to ensure that the Pre Prep pupils had a safe outdoor environment to play.On visiting the school it was evident that they had little equipment for the new Pre-Prep Department and the whole outside area was in need of a complete makeover. We designed the areas by dividing into three sections to include static play equipment, a safe fenced area to accommodate the Pre-Prep class, outdoor classrooms, large storage shed, all weather safer surfacing in the form of ‘no mow’ synthetic grass and a natural woodland area with bark surfacing a further two outdoor classrooms, musical instruments, planters, tree planting with Apple and Pear trees and also two giant tree ferns. We have transformed an unusable area of valued land into a safe, exiting and valuable addition to enhance the excellent facilities to the prestigious independent school with an enviable reputation for both academic and physical education.

“From he initial meetings with Ray Parry and his team they provided sound advice and creative ideas for the school to consider and in respect of the finishes, equipment and layout and took on board ideas and thoughts of the school staff and the GDST Building Surveyor. The project was turned around extremely quickly in view of the extent of the works and issues surrounding trees and multiple areas to meet the demands of differing age groups. Ray and all of his team from Toby at the offset to the guys on site were always attentive, co-operative and very courteous in delivering a superb asset to the school and an area of great enjoyment to the children, especially the bouncy No Mow Safer Surfacing around the play tower. The facility now looks smart and inviting and has totally transformed an area of playground and waste area into a fantastic facility of which myself and all the staff are unanimous in recommending Ray Parry to potential customers.
