Bespoke Inclusive Unit for Welshpool Town Council, Powys

Project Spotlight: Welshpool Town Council

The Brief

Welshpool Town Council in Powys secured funding that could only be used to improve inclusivity within the play area.

The challenge wasn’t to redesign the whole space, it was to make a targeted improvement that would open up play opportunities for younger children and those who might otherwise be excluded.

What We Delivered

Ray Parry Playgrounds created a bespoke toddler multi-play unit, designed specifically for the space and the brief.

This wasn’t an off-the-shelf solution.
The layout, access points and play features were carefully considered to:

  • Support early years development
  • Encourage shared play
  • Make the space more accessible from the outset

The Outcome

A focused upgrade that delivers more than just new equipment.

  • More inclusive play for younger children
  • A space that supports interaction, not just activity
  • A practical use of funding that meets its intended purpose

Ray Parry attended the official opening – seeing first hand the space in use and the immediate impact it had for families in the community.

What This Proves

Not every playground project needs to start from scratch.

With the right approach, targeted improvements can make a meaningful difference – especially when funding is ringfenced for inclusivity.

It’s not about adding more.
It’s about adding the right things.
